Ice Bath and Cold Plunge in Perth - Private Contrast Therapy at Beyond Rest

Beyond Rest offers private ice bath and cold plunge in Perth at two locations: East Perth at 125 Edward St and Wembley at 1/252 Cambridge St. Every session is private - your own ice bath, your own plunge, no shared tubs, no communal cold pools, no one else in your water. Sessions run 45 minutes ($79 solo, $109 two-person) at a maintained temperature of 8-12°C. For clients pairing ice bath with infrared sauna in a contrast therapy protocol, both modalities are available at the same centres.

Why a pre-float sauna?

The infrared sauna prepares the nervous system before a float. Heat opens the body, loosens muscle tension, and shifts you into a deeper baseline state, which means you reach the deeper layers of the float faster. Many Beyond Rest clients report a noticeably more relaxing float when preceded by a sauna session. Sauna-then-float is the pairing most regulars settle on, and it works at both Perth centres.

Why our sauna?

The Evolve 30 has two large heaters on the door directly in front of you and on the adjacent glass panel. This gives you perfect 360 Degrees of Surround Infrared Heat.

Our heaters are also lower on the walls. This directs more radiant heat onto your body, not wasting it above your head.

Ultra Low EMF & Zero VOC Tested

You can relax and enjoy with perfect ease since our Nano-Carbon panel heaters are one of the lowest in the industry. The average readings on the heater surface of less than 1mG as measured with all different styles of meters. These have tested 0.0 ppm VOC.

Non-Toxic

Most IR saunas use synthetic cloth covers to their carbon panel heaters. Not Beyond Rest. With our sauna's, the 'Nano-Carbon' heaters do not use cloth covers at all.

Instead they are built with non-toxic Titebond water based glue. This is food-contact approved quality.

Also, they are constructed using 100% premium grade Hardwood Basswood. A hypo-allergenic wood which is denser, stronger and greater sweat stain resistant than others.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely. The Sun Stream Evolve 30 cabin is sized to fit three people and seats two very comfortably. Two-person bookings are available: the rate is $74 ($25 on top of the standard single rate). Still your own private space, just shared with one person you choose to bring.

I’m Pregnant. Can I use the Infrared Saunas?

No. Infrared sauna is contraindicated during pregnancy. Raising core temperature during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, carries risk of harm and is not recommended by obstetric guidance. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, please consult your obstetrician or midwife before any heat therapy.

Who shouldn’t use IR Sauna’s?

Infrared sauna is not suitable for everyone. Please consult your GP or specialist before booking if you have any of the following: pregnancy (contraindicated, particularly first trimester), unmanaged cardiovascular conditions, acute joint injuries, haemophilia, hyperthyroidism, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis, metal pins or implants, adrenal suppression, enclosed infections, photosensitivity, or active fever or acute infection.

If you experience clamminess, weakness, dizziness or nausea during a session, leave the cabin immediately. Beyond Rest staff can discuss your situation with you, but they are not able to provide medical clearance.

I’m taking prescription medications. Can I use the Infrared Saunas?

If you are taking prescription medications, please consult your physician or pharmacist before booking. Specifically: barbiturates, beta-blockers, and diuretics may impair the body's natural heat-loss mechanisms. Anticholinergics (such as amitriptyline) may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or, in rare cases, heat stroke.

Antihistamines and some other over-the-counter medications may also increase susceptibility to heat-related effects. When in doubt, ask your prescriber specifically about infrared sauna exposure before your first session.

How often should I use the infrared sauna in Perth?

Two to three sessions per week is the most effective rhythm for most people, frequent enough to build cumulative benefit without over-taxing the system. If you are new to infrared sauna, start with one session per week for the first two to four weeks and build from there.

For FIFO workers or people with variable schedules, even one consistent session per return week builds meaningful habit and benefit over time. If you are also using Hocatt, its intensity means one to two times per week is more appropriate.

What is full-spectrum infrared and why does it matter?

Full-spectrum infrared delivers near, mid, and far-infrared wavelengths simultaneously. Single-wavelength saunas, common in gyms and home units, deliver far-infrared only. Near-infrared reaches skin and surface tissue; mid-infrared penetrates muscle and joint tissue; far-infrared drives the deep core heat and sweat response.

The Sun Stream Evolve 30 at Beyond Rest adds a 360° panel configuration so heat is distributed evenly across the whole body, producing a faster and deeper sweat than a single-panel unit.

Does Beyond Rest Perth have Hocatt?

Yes - both East Perth and Wembley have Hocatt available. You do not need to travel between centres for the upgrade. Hocatt stacks nine modalities in a 35-minute session: ozone therapy, far infrared, photon light therapy, microcurrents, oxygen therapy, CO2 therapy, ultrasonic cavitation, aromatherapy, and mild hyperthermia.

The intro session is $119 (first session), standard is $155. If you want to explore it, the team at either centre can walk you through it before you book.

Can I add an ice bath or cold plunge to my session?

Yes - both East Perth and Wembley have cold plunge facilities. A combined infrared sauna and ice bath session is booked as a dedicated contrast experience: $79 for solo (45 minutes), $109 for two people (50 minutes). Session packs are available at reduced per-session rates. See the contrast therapy page for full pack pricing.

How long does an infrared sauna session take at Beyond Rest Perth?

Sessions are 45 minutes. Allow approximately 60 minutes total for your visit, including arrival, check-in, the session, and a post-session cool-down and rehydrate. The cabin is pre-heated on arrival so there is no waiting time once you are checked in. Sessions are $49 and available seven days a week at East Perth and Wembley.

Will an infrared sauna help with sleep?

It may support sleep for many people. Infrared heat raises core temperature during the session; as the body cools afterward, it mimics the natural temperature drop that triggers deep sleep onset. Research by Beever (2010) found repeated thermal therapy associated with improved sleep quality markers. Evening sessions tend to produce the most noticeable effect, particularly with consistent use.

For FIFO workers or shift workers managing irregular sleep cycles, this thermal mechanism offers a reliable biological cue that does not rely on medication or supplementation.

Do I need to shower before and after an infrared sauna session?

A pre-session rinse is advisable if you have applied sunscreen, heavy skincare, or exercise residue, as these can reduce infrared absorption through the skin. A post-session shower is recommended to wash away sweat and compounds expelled through the skin. Cool or tepid water is preferred post-session; a cold rinse also provides a pleasant thermal contrast and helps close pores.

What should I expect in my first session at Beyond Rest Perth?

Arrive 5-10 minutes before your session to check in. The cabin is pre-heated on arrival so you can step straight in once you have changed. Bring a water bottle and a towel. Lighting and Bluetooth audio are yours to control during the session. The team will walk you through pricing, optional add-ons (ice bath, Hocatt upgrade), and answer anything you want to know before you start. No prior infrared sauna experience is required.

I work FIFO or shift work - when is the best time to book?

The Wembley centre opens at 6:00am Monday, designed specifically for FIFO and shift workers who want a decompression session before their first day back after a fly-in period. East Perth opens later (10:00am Tuesday onwards). Many shift workers book a sauna-plus-ice-bath sequence in the first 24-48 hours of the off-roster window - the contrast therapy effect tends to be most useful when recovery demand is highest. Both Perth centres are available seven days a week. Call either centre to plan a schedule around your roster.

Your own private infrared sauna

Most infrared saunas in Perth are communal: shared facilities, other people in the room, the background noise that makes genuine unwinding harder. Beyond Rest is different.

Each session is entirely private. You have your own Evolve 30 cabin for the full 45 minutes. No shared space. No one waiting outside. No one else in the room while you are in there. Just you, 360° of full-spectrum infrared heat, and the space to actually switch off.

For people using infrared sauna as a genuine recovery tool - after a heavy training block, a long fly-in period, or a week that accumulated more than it should have - the privacy is not a secondary consideration. The nervous system needs quiet and safety to shift into genuine rest. A private cabin delivers that in a way a shared sauna room cannot.

The Evolve 30 is large enough to seat three people and comfortably fits two. Two-person sessions are available at $74 - an additional $25 on the standard single rate. Still your own private space, just shared with one person you chose to bring.

Add an ice bath or cold plunge to your session

Both Beyond Rest Perth centres - East Perth and Wembley - have ice bath facilities, making it straightforward to add a cold plunge directly onto your infrared session in a single visit.

Cold exposure after infrared sauna creates a circulatory pump that neither modality achieves alone. Heat expands blood vessels and raises core temperature; the cold plunge contracts them sharply. The cycle drives oxygen and nutrients into recovering tissue and creates a post-exposure flush that is noticeably different from either modality used on its own. It has become a standard recovery protocol for serious athletes and for anyone managing chronic muscle tension, inflammation, or accumulated fatigue.

The sequence that produces the strongest response: sauna first, ice bath second. Heat opens the body and raises core temperature; the subsequent cold creates the contrast. Most clients describe the combined session as a reset that sits in a different category from either modality alone. And like our infrared saunas, every cold plunge session is fully private - your own room, your own tub, your own pace. No shared facilities. No communal cold plunge.

Upgrade to Hocatt: nine modalities in one session

Both Beyond Rest Perth centres have Hocatt available. You do not need to travel to a specific location for the upgrade - whichever centre suits you, Hocatt is there. Here is the honest case for when to choose which. A traditional infrared sauna delivers one thing: radiant heat across three wavelengths. Hocatt gives you that same heat plus eight additional modalities layered into the same 35-minute session.

For many people, the infrared sauna is exactly the right tool - a regular, affordable heat habit that produces genuine results with high frequency. For others, particularly those working through a specific health protocol or looking for the deepest available recovery tool in a single session, Hocatt reaches mechanisms infrared alone cannot.

The economics are worth being clear about. At $49 per infrared session versus $119 intro / $155 standard for Hocatt, the difference is real. Many clients run both: infrared two to three times per week for the consistent heat ritual, Hocatt once a fortnight as the deeper reset. That combination gives you high-frequency thermal exposure at an accessible cost with the more intensive multi-modality session layered in as a periodic complement.

Hocatt is available at both Beyond Rest East Perth and Beyond Rest Wembley.
